Gov. Sanford Issues Statement on Passing of Milton Friedman

Columbia, S.C. - ov. Mark Sanford today issued the following statement on the passing of Nobel Prize-winning economist Milton Friedman:

"I don't think there have been many people who've approached Milton Friedman in his understanding of the importance of freedom, and how maximizing people's freedom positively impacts the world around us," Gov. Sanford said. "His life's work -- from his time in the Reagan administration to his foundation's efforts to improve educational outcomes -- will continue to have a very real impact on our nation and our world for many years to come. His vision of human liberty is one that all policy makers would do well to advance, and I would ask all South Carolinians to join Jenny and me in keeping the Friedman family in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days."
