Columbia, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster today announced his nominees to serve in the 2nd and 4th Congressional District seats on the South Carolina Department of Transportation Commission.
Woodrow "Woody" Willard, Jr., first appointed to the 4th district seat in January of 2014, is president of Willard Incorporated, a real estate appraisal, consulting, and brokerage firm based in Spartanburg. A 1974 graduate of Wofford College with a bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mr. Willard also received an MBA from the University of South Carolina School of Business in 1976. Mr. Willard is a resident of Spartanburg County.
The governor’s nominee for the 2nd Congressional District seat, John H. Burriss, is a long-time member of the South Carolina business community. President and owner of the Burriss Corporation, a real estate and construction management company, Mr. Burriss is a former member of the General Assembly and a resident of Lexington County.
"My DOT nominees will provide conservative leadership for the agency to ensure taxpayer money is not wasted and that it is used to repair and maintain our state’s roads and bridges," said Gov. Henry McMaster. "They are successful private business owners with excellent records of public service, and I am confident they are well suited to lead the agency and contribute to our state’s economic success and prosperity."
The governor’s nominations will now be sent to the South Carolina Senate for confirmation by the legislative delegations within the respective Congressional Districts.
