Columbia, S.C. - Governor Henry McMaster today released the following statement in response to President Donald Trump's nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court:

“I have no doubt that Judge Brett Kavanaugh will make an outstanding Justice of the Supreme Court and will strictly defend the rule of law. President Trump promised to nominate conservative judges who will strictly follow the Constitution and exercise restraint rather than activism, and once again he has done just that. Democrats in the Senate should do what is right for the country and join their Republican colleagues in confirming Judge Kavanaugh before the Supreme Court session begins in October.”
