Gov. Henry McMaster To Host Annual Hurricane Tabletop Exercise

Columbia, S.C. – With the beginning of hurricane season less than one month away, Governor Henry McMaster, emergency management officials, state agency directors and local officials will participate in South Carolina’s annual Hurricane Tabletop Exercise.

The governor leads the annual exercise to ensure that state agencies, local emergency managers and local governments are prepared to respond should a hurricane or other natural disaster threaten South Carolina. This year's exercise will focus on pre-landfall and post-landfall coordination, including evacuations and sheltering, but will also involve discussion of lessons learned from Hurricane Matthew.

When: Friday, May 12 at 10:00 AM (media availability to follow at 12:00 PM) 

Where: Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, 1101 Lincoln Street, Columbia, S.C.
