Statement from Gov. Henry McMaster on S.C. Senate Confirming SCDJJ Director Freddie Pough

Columbia, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster today released the following statement in response to the S.C. Senate confirming South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice Director Freddie Pough:

"Mr. Pough is the right man for the job, and I look forward to continuing our work together to cultivate a safe environment at DJJ facilities that allows for the successful rehabilitation of the young people in its care. I'm grateful that Mr. Pough will have an opportunity to move his regionalization efforts forward and continue the tremendous work that the agency has done under his leadership."

"I am humbled and thankful for the trust placed in me by the governor and the Senate to continue leading DJJ," said Director Pough. "I'm committed to furthering the mission of protecting South Carolina and empowering the youth under my care. Our team will continue to make our communities stronger through the rehabilitation of our young people."
