COLUMBIA, S.C. – Governor Henry McMaster will participate in a meeting of the South Carolina House Opioid Abuse Prevention Study Committee tomorrow, Tuesday, June 25 at 9:30 AM.
Special Guest Dr. Vanila Singh, who serves as the Chief Medical Officer for the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, will make a presentation on the federal government’s response to the opioid crisis.
The meeting will also be attended by members of the South Carolina Opioid Emergency Response Team (SCOERT), which Governor McMaster created in 2017 to develop a statewide plan to address the opioid crisis. Sara Goldsby, SCOERT co-chair and Director of the South Carolina Department of Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, will also make a presentation.
